Tad Lake August 26- September 5
We got back yesterday from our trip to Tad Lake. Now we are busy getting things organized before we start school Monday. The next few months are sure to pass quickly and we are anticipating the end of term one along with the arrival of our new addition.
Our time at Tad Lake went well. The kids didn't want to come home... though they are happy to be reunited with their toys and they all slept extra well in their own beds. There was lots to do as always. Tire swing, walk to the cattle guard, bikes, motorbikes, quad rides, play house, rock panting, gardening, frog hunting... just to name a few.
David learned to drive the big quad and is hoping to get one his own size before our next visit in the Spring.
We spent the first week there without Daddy since he was hunting outside Fort Nelson. It was good to have lots to occupy us and lots of family around while he was away.
Just wanted to share a few pictures from our trip.

Tad Lake - May 2014
We recently spent a week at the family cabin at Tad Lake near 100 Mile House. It's still a bit cold in early May but the nice thing is there aren't many mosquitos yet (we saw the odd one but no bites). We had a great time and made lots of nice memories.
David had some big highlights this trip. We got him his first dirt bike (YAMAHA PW50) which he spent most of his time on! He also went fishing and caught his first fish, a rainbow trout.
The kids didn't want to come home and are already looking forward to our next rip.
I hope you enjoy these few pictures from our week.

Tad Lake - Thanksgiving 2013

This year we were able to make a second trip to Tad Lake for our 2nd annual early Thanksgiving. It was a lot colder then last year but that made for a new kind of fun. The kids did well and are really settling in to the cabin and camper being home away from home. The new family picture isn't the best shot we got but I will likely be using it for Christmas cards so I thought I would save it for now.
It was nice to see Fall settling into the Caribo. It's much different then our fall... no reds... just greens and golds. We were fortunate to see some different animals this year. A hare, 2 swans, cows and squirrels (okay cows and squirrels we see here). Jonathan also got to see a Doe and her Fawn when he was out hunting... two bad it wasn't a Buck! Oh well, maybe next year Honey! The week went by so fast. I didn't even manage a quad ride this time around but we were blessed to be surrounded by nature, fresh air, family and lots of yummy food... who could ask for more?

Tad Lake July-August 2013

It has been almost 2 weeks since we retuned from a wonderful week at Tad Lake. I have a whole album worth of favourite memories that I could post so it was hard to narrow it down to a select few. The first is one of my absolute favourites... David catching his first frog. To me this is a classic boy milestone which both warms and tears at a mothers heart. My son is growing up so fast. Also love the picture of him with Daddy when they've just got back from "playing" in the mud. He was so proud of how dirty he managed to get.
Angeline loved spending time with cousin Freya and we've collected lots of cute photos of them together. By the end of the trip she was also driving the kids car on her own.
Samara enjoyed spending time in the play house, going for walks and riding her run-bike. She isn't as fond of large groups as the older two but she soaked up lots of one on one.
Rebekah really enjoyed all the time outside, and many naps in the comfort of grandparents arms. She spent lost of time practicing walking and enjoyed all the praise she received.
We all enjoy the quality individual and group time spent with family.

Together at Tad Lake

On Saturday we returned from a week at Tad Lake. We all had so much fun and it was great to have a chance to spend time with family including Jonathan's sister Lauren, her husband Brent and their daughter Freya who are visiting from England. I have LOTS of great pictures and fond memories some of which I hope to share but for now I thought I would just post a few family pictures. Hope you also enjoy the Cake Smash pictures of Rebekah in my previous post. It was special to celebrate her first birthday while we were at the cabin.

Just after midnight we returned home from our first trip to Tad Lake. We spent 7 days at our family cabin in the woods, had lots of fun, great weather and lots of memories made. I was a bit worried about the long drive with 4 young kids but it went really well.
I've heard "a picture is worth a thousand words" but pictures just don't capture the magic of this place. It is a wilderness paradise.
I don't have time to write a thousand words but I hope you can see some of the fun we had in these moments we have digitally captured.
Lots of outdoor fun and bike ridding.
Jonathan's first grouse (yummy)!
Collecting food from the garden.
Dreaming he's 16!
Fun on the Tire Swing.
Oma & Opa
David has his first loose tooth.
Rebekah is now 8 weeks old.
Quad Rides
I decided I had to make a separate post for our quad pictures at Tad Lake. Here are 11 pictures with various family members all going for a ride. You can also see some glimpses of the property and cabin. Samara went for several rides each day. Anytime someone asked her if she wanted to go for a ride she answered with an enthusiastic "Yah!" Angeline took a little while to warm up to the idea. When someone asked her if she wanted to go for a ride she would answer "maybe when I'm 4." By the end of our week she was enjoying it just as much as the rest of us. I did go on a few rides with Jonathan but didn't manage to get any pictures this time around. My first ride in the woods I got quite the scare when something snuffed at me (possibly a moose or a bear) though I can't see how we surprised it making all that noise. David also enjoyed it and thought it was extra special when he got to go for a ride on the Rhino. (Above picture is Uncle Jared with the bike, Grandpa, Angeline, David and Jonathan on the quad.
