First Day of School - Grade 1

Today is David's first day of Grade 1 at his Community Class. He attends Community Class on Fridays throughout the school year and we are continuing to homeschool. We actually started school 2 weeks ago and everything is going well. Surprisingly he hasn't seemed to forget much over the summer so we have been able to skip over a lot of the review. He was excited to go to school today, although he expressed a little remorse over not being able to play with his sister. He was also a bit concerned that he might have a different teacher but he was happy to see that it was the same teacher as last year.

Parksville Beach Park

This was another day trip we did while on the Island. Parksville Beach has a great playground. When David saw it for the first time he said "Wow... this is the biggest playground I have ever seen!" We've had 2 pic-nics here this year. The kids also enjoyed playing in the tide pools on the beach. This concludes my blogging from our trip to the Island just in time to post Rebekah's 6 week pictures tomorrow morning.

Fall Fair 2012

Angeline really liked this ride but got scared when it was coming down. Couldn't convince her to do any rides after this except for the Carousel with Daddy which I unfortunately didn't get any pictures of.

David and I on the Spinning Strawberries

Samara is too short (and too young) for the rides but she was happy to watcher her brother and sister, dance and look at the farm animals. She was particularly smitten by a real life my little pony.
Rebakah thought it was pretty boring so she slept through most of it but she did wake up enough to help bring some customers to Nana's Norwex booth.

Jonathan and I even got to sneak off for one ride on the Ferris Wheel.

Sprout Lake

These pictures were taken last week while we were on the Island visiting friends and family. The above pictures we taken at "1st Bridge" and the ones below were taken right in my Uncle & Aunt's backyard! The kids LOVE the lake... David especially! Very fun memories made!

Port Alberni Salmon Festival 2012

Here we are at the Port Alberni Salmon Festival, September 2nd. Love this family picture only we must have caught the sun at the wrong angle.
Jonathan and David fishing for Bull-Heads at the Bull-Head Derby. Angeline was set to fish too but she was too nervous about climbing down the big rocks so David caught a fish for her.

David kept the biggest bull-head for himself and let his sister enter the smaller one and guess who won? Angeline's fish one a "hidden weight" prize. David felt a bit ripped off but Angeline will share and we decided it must have just been her lucky day after being pooped on by a seagull.
Everyone got their face painted and had fun in the bouncy castle... it was a great day... thank you Nana!

4 weeks old

Rebekah is 4 weeks old and doing well. She's still small enough that we consider her "new born" but when Angeline holds her I can see that she has grown. She had a check up today and she is now 8lbs 6oz and 21 1/2 inches tall so she is gaining well... about 50 grams a day! She LOVES her bath time and having her feet massaged. She never cries unless mommy has eaten too much garlic or I am just not feeding her fast enough but she is pretty patient really and with Daddy home to help with her siblings she rarely has to wait anyway. She is still wearing all her new born clothes but I suspect she will be moving to the next size soon. She is wearing size 1 diapers. You can see her blue eyes well in the last picture of her in the bath. She also tried out her swing for the first time yesterday and seemed to like it well enough to fall asleep. Always good to have somewhere to put her when we are having dinner or needing hands free. She continues to sleep well most nights but the odd night she has trouble settling down. I often stay in bed with her until 8:30am which is sleeping in for me. Jonathan still has a few weeks off but we will all be in for an adjustment when he goes back to work.

1 Month Sibling Comparison...

Rebekah
 Samara
 Angeline
 Noah
David

When I see Rebekah from different angles, making different expressions I can see glimpses of likenesses between her and her other siblings as babies. Looking at these pictures with them all about 4 weeks in age they all seem so different. I don't think she looks like one of them more then another but I do often see my Noah (though you probably can't see it in pictures)... but it is something with their eyes. That being said Rebekah is most certainly herself and we love her very much just as we do all our children. Was just doing some comparing myself and thought it might be fun to share.
